The Gelert is inspired by an ancient tale of Eryri.
In Eryri is a village called Beddgelert, a place of legend, culture and history. It is also the final resting place of Gelert, faithful hound to a Welsh Prince. Believing Gelert had attacked his child, Prince Llewelyn drove his sword into Gelert killing him instantly.
The dog's dying yell was answered by a child's cry. Unharmed and hidden beneath a blanket, the child lay next to a mighty wolf Gelert had slain to save the Prince's son.
